Rearrange Your Bedroom, Recharge Your Love Life.   This can mean anything from bringing in a new relationship, charging up the one you have, or moving on if things are not healthy for the both of you.

In Feng Shui, the bedroom represents the area for relationships, partnerships, and love. It is also the main place in the home where we recharge our physical energy the most because its where we sleep. It should be restful, intimate, and inviting.

According to Feng Shui, THE CHINESE ART OF PLACEMENT and design, repositioning your furniture and reducing clutter can actually enhance the flow of chi, or energy and make your entire life flow more smoothly. To maximize your energy, focus on the Feng Shui of your bedroom. One principle of Feng Shui is that everything has energy and carries a vibration. Surround yourself with things you love and that remind you of relaxation and romance. *Have a beautiful picture opposite you on the wall so that when you sleep you see something relaxing or romantic and the same when you wake up. This does wonders for your chi. Keep pictures of family, friends, etc. in other parts of the house. Your bedroom should have pictures of you and your mate.

Here are some Key Tips to Bring in Romance:                                   couple

  1. Make sure your bed faces the door but is not in line with the door. You should have a view of the whole room which offers a broader understanding of your relationship.
  2. Keep clutter to a minimum under the bed and behind doors; Once a lady told me she had stored plywood boards on the floor under her bed because she had no other place to put them. I told her that could make her relationship feel heavy. She laughed and said that indeed she wondered why the relationship was not light and fun. She quickly removed the wood.
  3. Choose romantic colors. The color scheme further enhances intimacy and love. Rosy shades and colors of the flesh like warm terracottas, greens that nurture opens the heart to love. Reds are good in moderation. They bring in the passion. Use them in candles, accents but go lightly here as it can bring in too much chi and cause arguments.
  4. Find the relationship corner of your bedroom. It is the southwest corner of the room.
  5. Activate your relationship with the earth element. In the Southwest area place a pair of  lovebirds or  mandarin ducks.  A crystal lamp or vase also works.
  6. Add fresh flowers but keep plants to a minimum.  Fresh flowers are considered good luck and pink orchids or roses work well.  Make sure plants are real so that if you have to water it, then you are growing your relationship and making it healthy too! Bring things in in pairs like two roses in a vase to represent partnership.
Now its time to stand back and look at your whole room. How does it feel? Is there a T.V. and lots of books and papers? If your television is not in a cabinet, it's a good idea to keep it covered at night when you sleep because it does give off a lot of electromagnetic energy. Keep reading materials to a minimum. Read somewhere else in your home like a library or den and come to bed to relax, unwind, and recharge. You'll reap the rewards in terms of good chi.

Here is a Feng Shui Case Study of a client I worked with who wanted to enhance her relationship with her husband.  Names are fictional for privacy.

As a consultant, I work with people in their homes.  I often ask if there is an area of their life they feel is a problem or challenge?  Usually everyone has something they want to enhance even if there is not a problem. My client Shannon definitely wanted the Feng Shui to improve the relationship with her husband Mike which she said was distant at best. She had a spiritual business and was very open to what feng shui could offer her.

Without her husband's approval, the bedroom was the only thing she felt comfortable changing. The   bedroom is where we rest and have intimacy with our partner.  Shannon was happy for me to take a look at it and give her some suggestions. Approaching the bedroom, I noticed it was  functional, yet sparse and lacking in warmth.  It had an ironing board in a corner and no pictures or feeling that a couple spent time there. Their bed placement was good. I told her it was a good starting point.  We placed an orchid flowering plant plant with two buds to represent partnership and added some nice pictures to add a warm feeling. She felt the marriage was in a desperate place so wanted to place a small altar in the room to bring in spiritual help.  Altars are usually better in a separate space that one can go to daily for inspiration.  She felt comfortable with it in the bedroom, so that was what we did.

From what you could see, it seemed like few changes were made.  On an energetic level, the changes caused a huge transformation because we added energy to something that had been neglected. I am sure she felt she did her part to keep the relationship going and just didn't understand why her husband was distant and even at times angry. I met Mike briefly and felt no loving feeling from him towards her. I prayed for the best outcome for the both of them.

Shannon called me about a month later and told me that after the Feng Shui her husband asked her for a divorce and asked her to move out!!!  When she called me she had already moved into a new place with a roommate but was still devastated. She was in tears and still trying to get Mike back. His decision was final. She finally moved on and only after a few months met a very nice and caring man who became her good friend.  This friendship blossomed after a year and they began dating.  He became the love of her life and treated her with the love and respect she deserved.  She said he was very romantic too! They are still together after several years.

I don't want to scare you but just let you know that
in feng shui, when the block is severe, the faster the result can ocurr. Its like stepping on a water hose. The hose backs up with water pressure until you take your foot off of it. Then it gushes forth. There had been such a block in this relationship for quite a long time. Neither Shannon nor Mike wanted to face it. Once some attention was placed, Mike felt it and wanted out. He was not willing to do what it would take to bring the relationship to a healthy state.  Shannon would have been in a loveless marriage trying for years to make it work had he not asked for the divorce. It is important to ask for what you want and to be open to what unfolds.

It was not that by adding a plant we caused Shannon's whole relationship to change.
It was that we placed an awareness on an area that had been neglected. She activated the relationship from its dead state and had an intention for the highest outcome of the marriage. This method is from the Black Hat Sect school.  Had I had the opportunity to use Classical Feng Shui where I could have done their flying stars chart to remedy unbalances in the home, who knows what the results would have been?  I had one teacher say that people are where they need to be and it is up to us to allow them that process.

Perhaps neither Shannon nor Mike really knew what they wanted.  They just knew the relationship had become stale and they wanted a change.  Today, I use an integrative approach with both schools to bring about balance in people's lives. Don't worry that using feng shui will mess up your marriage. This was an extreme and unusual case which is why I wanted to share it with you.  It is always your choice how you want to handle things. It just frees up any blocks or obstacles energetically to having what you want. As you can see by the end result, both ended up happy.

People have been known to feng shui their bedroom and find the loves of their lives or spice up their current relationships. Feng Shui is only part of the solution.  Proper feng shui, balance of the five elements in your space, your efforts and intentions, all work together to help you achieve your desires. I love the quote by Albert Einstein ,"Nothing happens until something moves". Feng Shui is energy in motion.  Use it wisely and have your relationships blossom and unfold in magical ways.

Wishing you love and romance,

Belinda
